New York League of Conservation Voters endorse Francis Corcoran

The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement

of Francis Corcoran in his bid for re-election to the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Legislator Corcoran has enjoyed support from the state’s largest environmental organization during his past campaigns, where they have cited his commitment to sustainability and green policy issues.

“I am honored to once again have the support of the New York League of Conservation Voters, who champion environmental issues that benefit us all,” Legislator Corcoran said. My constituents in Northern Westchester understand better than most the need to ensure a clean environment and protect our open spaces, not just for today, but for generations to come

Since taking office in 2016, Corcoran has fought to protect our green spaces and the public health of the Bedford, Mount Kisco, Pound Ridge, North Salem, Lewisboro, and Somers communities, according to the NYLCV. In its endorsement, the NYLCV further cited Corcoran’s work as Chair of the Environment and Health Committee on the Board of Legislators, where he has helped provide millions of dollars for sewer revitalizations and led an environmental initiative to eliminate fuel oils No.  4 and No. 6, otherwise known as “heavy oils”, by 2019. These initiatives allow for better management of our County’s waste and a reduction of air-pollutants for our residence.

The NYLCV also noted Corcoran was also essential in the effort to reduce Bedford’s greenhouse emissions by 20 percent, otherwise known as the Bedford 2020 plan. By passing legislation to enact Property-assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing Corcoran helped make it affordable and sensible to finance environmentally friendly renovations for commercial, public, and residential spaces locally.

If re-elected, Francis Corcoran says he will continue his promise to the environmental protection of green spaces and ensure that Westchester is a clean and safe place to live.
